Four Dead in Ohio: Episode Nine Remembrance Day at Kent State University commemorates the four students shot by Ohio National Guard troops on May 4, 1970. The altercation came at the end of four days of increasingly agitated demonstrations against the Vietnam War and the American invasion of Cambodia. The Kent State shootings became an enormously symbolic event across the country and throughout the world. Today, May 4 is remembered on the Kent State campus through a wide variety of events. In this episode, General Cabbage covers some of the student protests and events from this year’s Remembrance Day including a B.U.S./NAACP demonstration and a peace march. |
